In Singapore, there is a Singapore dream that epitomize the successful Singaporean.
Singapore Dream
It goes something like this: He attends primary and secondary schools, then attends junior colleges, all the time scoring either close to 100 marks and getting straight As while excelling in sports and other extra curriculum activities. Then, he got a scholarship to study in the universities, find a good job in the government sector or multinationals corporations, and got married. Have a few kids, then acquire more assets like cars, properties and so on. Then when he reached 60 years old, he would retire with his grandchildren all around. And then....he dies.
Kiasu and Kiasi
I believe that this Kiasu and Kiasi dream is sold to every single one of us since we learn to listen to words and are able to talk. Anyone that fails to live up to this dream is a failure in that aspect.
Living Dangerously
There are many ways to live, and a stable and unpredictable life is what many people would like. Living dangerously is reserved for the rich and the powerful. Fast cars and skydiving. I believe that once you have stored up enough savings, you can take a break from work. Go overseas or stay at home to meditate. You might be amazed at what you are missing all these years, trying to make the Singapore dream come true.

11 Questions For Should I Be Leaving My Job
Answer 'Yes', 'No' or 'Maybe' to the following questions:
1. Do you try to reach the office as late as possible?
2. Do you try to leave the office as early as possible?
3. Would you find the slightest reason to take medical leave?
4. Do you volunteer for challenging tasks?
5. Are you surfing the net in the office whenever you are bored?
6. Do you attend investment or side business seminars during the weekends?
7. Do you feel tired after a work day for a prolonged period?
8. Do you notice a lack in interest in doing anything? For example, you find the world boring and yourself lacking in energy.
9. Do you complain to your co-workers?
10. Are you noticing more white-hairs?
11. Do you think there are no prospects in your current job?
Scoring Criteria:
If you have answered 'Yes' for more than 50% of the above questions, then seriously you might need to look for another job for a change in environment.
If you have answered 'Maybe' for more than 50% of the above questions, then you need to watch out for borderline tiredness. A one-week break might cure it.
If you have answered 'No' for more than 50% of the above questions, then congrats. You shouldnt even be here in the first place. Your bosses are treating you very well.

Benefits Of Starting Your Own Business
Last week, we discussed the downside of starting your own business. This week, we going to be touching on the upside of owning your own business:
Collect All The Revenue
When you own a business, either with someone working for you or you working alone, all the revenue that comes in goes into your pockets. This is different from working from someone, such as being a salesman, and seeing the revenue going into the employer's.
Flexibility Of Time
Some days you felt like working hard, some days you felt like taking a break. Other times, you might want to settle something important in your life in the mornings, and only can work in the nights. Regardless of your working circumstances, there are lots of flexibility when having your own business. What's more, if you have no dates over the weekend, you can work your weekends off, and earn more money at the same time.
Unlimited Income
Every employer will give a standard 3-5% increment in monthly salary every year. This is not really proportional to the amount of effort that you have put in. For example, if you are working on 12 hours workdays, you might still be getting the same amount of salary, versus another employee working the standard 8 hours per working day.
So, if you have decided to embark on own your business, these are the benefits that you would be getting. But, do be warned though, that the enormous returns might not come immediately, and your first paycheck might be 6 months later or a year later. If you have set aside enough money for your daily expenses, and daily operating costs, for the next 12-18 months, then you are ready to start your journey.
The Adsense Guild program is very suitable for such a goal. It is not a get-rich quick scheme, but presents a robust online business model that would generates revenues for those who would put in the hard work and time.

213 days in Adsense Guild
Ever since joining Adsense Guild, I am surrounded with people who have the same goal as me. That is, to make passive income that will supplement either my day job income, or to become an independent income by itself.
So far, it seems like sites that are basically auto-blogs are affected the most. With lower income earnings, and lesser traffic. Updates for this week as follows:

What You Would Lose When You Go Into Full-time Internet Marketing
There are so many websites telling people that if they want to get rich they should be quitting their jobs and going into business themselves. I wont deny that going into business is good and there are lots of money to be made than working for someone else.
However, what these sites did not tell you is that in any business, the customers do not really care about your paper qualifications. You can have the best mba, bachelor degrees from the top universities in the world, and yet if you dont have any value add to your customers, they will abandon you in no time.
Such is the contrast to working for someone else. In Singapore, employers generally hire based on your qualifications first. This is so evident in government agencies, statutory boards and the multi-national corporations (MNCS). They also compensate appropriately for your experience.
Now, I hoped I have not burst your dream of starting your own business, online or offline. But I were a lot like you when I started 213 days ago. Luckily, I did not throw away my job. Looking back, despite the progress made in earning passive income, if I knew there were so much work involved in internet marketing, I would not want to go into it. So many hours of free time were spent on it.
Did I mention the frustration of hiring freelancers to do some of the work for me? Money really makes the world goes round. When you pay too little, nobody would want to do anything for you. When you pay the right amount, freelancers would raise issue that they arent familiar with your website material and need to be paid more for more time spent on the assigned tasks. All these time, money is just dripping out of my own pockets.
If after reading this posting, and you still want to join Adsense Guild, then you would have joined a group of elite internet marketing gurus, myself excluded :(

I am happy with the progress I have made so far, working on the websites whenever I can pluck out free time from my extremely demanding day job. As of today, I am working from 8am until 10pm every weekday and weekends working from 8am to 4pm. With this kind of work life, if not for the monthly income, nobody would want to spend so many hours in the office.
Greatly welcomed the 2 days of break from work, allowing me to have a certain perspective on my life and catching up on other aspects, achieving some form of work-life balance.

Again, this week I am also very busy at work. But I am kind of glad that I am having an alternative income source from internet marketing. As of today, the adsense revenue from my first site is picking up, and my second site seeing the first sign of revenue. I were conversing with another fellow guilder who started one month earlier than me but already got a couple of producing sites, and he said it would be nice to have 10 producing sites. I agreed. Each site is like your online worker, working 24 hours to make you passive income.

Wow! 5 Days of Jacky Cheung Concerts!
Attended 5 consecutive days of Jacky Cheung concerts. NOT ME. A property agent did.
This property agent is accompanied by 5 different members of her family for each of the different days. Seems like being a property agent is very lucrative nowadays. No wonder I have ex-colleagues in the same industry joining their ranks.
This is just one side of the story. I also known ex-property agents who came back to their previous jobs. When a group of people want others to take action to benefit themselves, they chose to tell half the story.
Do you think internet marketing is easy?

"Goal: Will quit my day job when my online income is equal to half of my monthly salary." is also dead
I just removed it from the title of this page. In addition, my personal facebook account is also deactivated. This is NOT a coincidence.
All online operations are now carried out like a secret mission. Over time, there will be lesser and lesser details. Making money online is a secret now.

Having a day job that pays you every month is good. However, there are occasions when you just feel like quitting. Today is one of them.
I just got home after a 5 hour long meeting. It is not very funny when 7 hungry people crowd in a small room for a discussion with no dinner in sight and no idea of when it is going to end. Talk about EQ at work. The bosses did not even bother to order dinner for anyone.
Somehow, I reached home with a new fire. I will make my side-business work!

As Bad As You Can Be
Cannot remember where I have read it, but it is said that when you start on anything new, you are as bad as you can be at it. Slowly, you will learn from your mistakes and improve. You will see the benefits, provided you do not give up and are in the game long enough.
Though I have joined a group of very experienced marketers, I made mistakes from day #1. Unconsciously I would say. I did not even know I were making a mistake. It helps when someone clarified a point or two in the Adsense Guild Forum, then you realized that you have been doing something incorrectly. I will learn. I will do it the right way.
But, it takes time. Patience is a virtue.

Money Making Opportunities Are Everywhere
Money making opportunities are everywhere. Just open up any newspaper. Forex gurus will teach you how to make $10k a month. Stock gurus will teach you how to make money regardless of a bull or bear market. Internet Marketing geniuses will teach you how to generate a passive income.
I cannot say for the first 2 cases. Maybe they are genuinely interested in helping more Singaporeans to become millionaires or billionaires after becoming one themselves.
But I do know that teaching people "how to make money" is easier than doing it yourself.
Imagine a weekend course where the guru told people who have absolutely no idea of Internet Marketing (or never did any research themselves, or who have never succeeded) and just make a claim that he is making money from Internet Marketing by showing them his Adsense account versus him staying at home to work on his websites himself, he probably earned more in the weekend than all his time spent on his websites. Some questions that you should think about:
Do you think he will share everything he knows with you?
How does he ensure that you will be successful after the course? (He has already collected $$$ from you)
Will you set up your first website and try out?
How does he ensure that you are motivated?
The Adsense Guild is probably superior.
It is a place for doers. You get the Adsense Recipe that tells you what you need to do exactly every week, continuously for 52 weeks.
It charges monthly and you can get out anytime you think it is not suitable for you.
It has a support forum where you can post your queries, doubts or share your successes.
A Good Opportunity does not come often. I managed to get in when it is offering a $250 lifetime membership. Took only a week for me to decide to risk my $250.
Incidentally, after I have seen some successes of my own, and told some people about it, they actually told me they are too busy right now and will get into it at the end of the year.
Inflation is making everyone's purchasing power smaller. Unless you are earning faster than what you are earning 6 months ago, I would recommend an alternative source of income. Once built, it requires low maintenance and continually rolls in income week after week with little effort.

122 days in Adsense Guild
Going into the 5th month of my internet marketing journey. The past 4 months have been very enriching. Not only have I picked up useful tips that cannot be found anywhere on the Internet from the Adsense Guilders, I also got the latest updates on the future trend of search engines.

Page 1 of 9,150,000 (Seems like a number of irrelevant pages have been weeded out in the latest search engine algorithm update. This is definitely good for me.)

Online Business Crisis
Do you think Internet Marketing is smooth-sailing business? Want to get in on this and make LOTS of money while you are asleep? Read on.
Yesterday, I have a "crisis" situation for my website. In the morning, just before leaving for work, I checked my website ranking in Google. To my disappointment, it has dropped to page #3. Over the past 8 weeks, I have seen my website dropped from page 1 to page 2. However, I took no action as I thought it was temporary. Google is constantly updating their ranking algorithm.
Immediately, I posted a message in the Adsense Guild forum, asking for advice from the more experienced internet marketers. 8 hours later, I reached home and checked the forum for follow-up replies. There were a number of responses. A few mentioned keyword density.
I ended up spending the next 5 hours, updating the navigation of the website, and rewriting the main page. When I were done with the website, it was 1am. I checked my website's Google ranking again. It is at the top position in page 2!
Problems encountered in your own side-business are not necessarily bad. Yesterday, I learned some new tricks on boosting my website's ranking in Google and all thanks to the Great Guys at Adsense Guild Forum.

108 days in Adsense Guild
We are coming to the end of July. Time really flies, isn't it? Today marks the 108 days after joining Adsense Guild and my first website is growing in all areas - content, visitors and revenue!
Website's Alexa ranking:
30/07/2011 - 553,527

Yesterday, saw a report that said the unemployment rate in Singapore has gone up. Largely attributed to the influx of new graduates. Younger, and more energetic. Hungry for success. As for whether they are prepared to work at a lower pay with longer working hours, I am not so sure.
Now, it looks like the more senior you are, and you are not adding value to whatever company you are at, it is a certainty you will be replaced by someone more junior that is "cheaper". Employee loyalty is no longer valued in Singapore. If you know of any profitable company that is not interested in making more money, and more interested in hiring older people and paying them huge amounts of salary for not doing much work, let me know. I will gladly join them.
You do not have to wait for the day to come when you are given the pink slip to take action. You can start a profitable side business while you are gainfully employed. When it is a side business, you do not have the stress of it working out and earning you a salary that is comparable to your full-time job now.
When it does, you can either quit your job or enjoy the double pay.

Another Celebrity Who Set-up Side Business
Ex-beauty queen, Jamie Teo and her husband Daniel Ong just started a cupcake shop. It was 3 weeks old. The startup capital is $100k. Now, they woke up at 6am, worked from 8am until 10pm, a total of 14 hours, including lunch breaks. When they reached home, they continue to do the accounts for the day. Another 1-2 hours spent on their business. I estimated that they slept at 12+am and only got 6 hours of sleep at most.
Daniel Ong is doing some voice-over assignments at their home studio. If they are working everyday, that leaves even lesser time for rest.
I google-ed and found that cupcakes are expensive. Price ranged from $1 (super-mini size) to $6 (standard size). One box of 12 cupcakes costs $36. If they can sell 50 boxes (=600 cupcakes) per day, that is $1,800 in revenue per day. In a month, that is $54,000 in revenue. The operating costs should be around $30k, and that leave around $20k in profit every month. This means they will break-even within half a year or less.
Internet marketing with Adsense Guild does not need 100k, and it does not need to be full-time. As for the break-even part, I will tell you when the time comes.

Did you win toto on Friday?
I hoped you have.
Many people come to the Internet to search for answers to problems that they cannot solve. For example, "how to win toto", "how to make money online", "how to earn more", "how to be happy", "how to get job after retrenchment" and "how to get promotion faster".
Winning toto is one answer to financial abundance. However, few people got it. To date, only 19 millionaires have been created.
Internet marketing is a great way to making additional income online. I am starting to see some revenue from my website.

A few days ago, I shared with 2 of my friends about my experience with Adsense Guild. Just like many people that I have spoken to, they can see the potential of this online business.
For example, the Adsense Guild owner, Cary Bergeron, is making roughly $21k per month after working on internet marketing for 5 years, with a full-time job. Now, he has 3 full-time persons working for him.
I am making $0 for my 79 days of effort so far.
Perhaps my friend summed it best -
"If it does not make money, call it a hobby.
If it does make money, tell other people you are doing a business" - Friend's quote

Dealing with Job Stress - Try Twitter Therapy
Occasionally, we will receive negative remarks from our managers or bosses at work. This could spoil our day. If you do not wish to become a "crybaby" among your friends, consider Twitter Therapy.
Twitter Therapy
In twitter, you can follow interesting personalities with funny comments or follow the news. It becomes a personalized feed.
Twitter can also become your personal diary. You can be anonymous and write whatever you feel like saying. Through posting tweets, you are immersed in the virtual world temporarily and the effects of the negative remarks will be lost on you. Ha ha.
This is definitely better than "complaining" to your co-workers or colleagues. If you are not careful, and the bosses hear about your complaints, you might lose your iron ricebowl. Ouch!

Have you Watched Undercover Boss?
Undercover Boss is currently showing on Channel 5, every Sunday at 10pm. Each episode, the top manager or CEO of a company, goes undercover in his own company and works among the workers at different levels for a week. He does this to understand the challenges faced by his workers.
I have been following Undercover Boss for a few weeks. What touches me is that the CEO truly wants to provide a safe and secure environment whereby the employees can advance their careers, while seeking increase in the bottom-line at the same time.
If you are unable to catch it on Channel 5, you can also watch it here.

Xu Zheng Rong, Dasmond Koh also has side-businesses
Saturday's Lianhe Wanbao reported that Dasmond Koh has side-businesses that generate $5 millions in revenue every year, and this includes a scuba diving company, a trading company, 2 foot-reflexology centres, and even an IT company!
See the report here.
He told the papers that he might not renew his contract for another 5 years. Maybe for another 1 or 2 years perhaps.
Recently, heard that Joanne Peh's boyfriend, Bobbi also has a side business in Bali. Wow, seems like everyone nowadays is working on something secretly to make more money.

Charting the Uncharted Waters
I am satisfied with the Adsense Guild program and so I am not going to ask for my money back.
Have many personal gains since joining:
1. Got up-to-speed within 60 days with a topic that I have been procrastinating to know more about
2. Learn within 60 days more about internet marketing than I have ever learn in 2 years
3. Got great support from people who are already successful in the online internet marketing business. The Adsense Guild forum is great. If I asked a question, I will get a reply within 1 to 3 days.
4. Weekly updates on new techniques and tools in internet marketing
I have not made any income yet from the Adsense Guild program
From this point onwards, it will be uncharted waters.
Only time will tell if money going into buying the Adsense Guild program and miscellaneous costs in setting up the website can reap returns many times over.

"Sacrifices" For the Past 60 Days
I am holding a full-time job that requires me to report to work in the morning around 8.30am, and work until 6pm to 8pm. On-and-off, I might need to "burn" my weekends for some ad-hoc work. With the long hours of work, and hardly any work-life balance, you can see why setting up my own business in the long-term is desirable.
10 Hours Per Week
To do the weekly tasks listed in the Adsense Guild program, I woke up at 5.30am or 6.30am for once or twice a week, sometimes during the weekdays or sometimes on weekends. This is because I am using a SingTel mobile broadband connection that costs $18.50 per month, and this weird hour timing gives the best connection speed. The internet connection is very slow in the evening, around 8pm onwards.
If I managed to get home before 7pm, I will put in an hour or so. Total time spent online is around 6 to 8 hours, with another 2 hours offline for content writing.

58 days and 84 Absolute Unique Visitors!
For the past 3 days, the traffic to my website has increased! There are 24 new visitors, and a total of 84 unique visitors to my website so far. With 2 more days to go, will I hit 100 unique visitors?
54 Days from Adsense Guild Signed-up
The past 54 days have been exciting.
Week-by-Week Guidance
Right from the start, I am guided week-by-week on what to do, such as how to decide what to write and how to set up the website. The tasks for each week probably take 8-10 hours at most. As advised by the mentors, you can do more if you want to see the results faster.
The Results
I bought the domain and have the first page of my website set-up on 15th April 2011. So far, I have 64 unique visitors. Nearly 1 new visitor every day. In the first 2 weeks, my website got direct traffic, all from my own visits.
At the third week, I start getting referral from Google searches. Now, after 7 weeks, I am getting 30% of my traffic from search engines searches, 30% from referrals, and the rest from my own visits.
I have also been monitoring the website's Alexa ranking:
8/5/2011 - 6,437,092
15/5/2011 - 3,020,002
22/5/2011 - 1,905,701
31/5/2011 - 1,363,505
5/6/2011 - 1,240,012
and the page when I search for the website's domain name in google:
5/5/2011 - page 10 of 11,400,000
31/5/2011 - page 7 of 11,400,000
5/6/2011 - page 1 of 12,100,000
Not bad I would say.

How I Got Started in Adsense Guild
Since early 2009, I am very interested in making websites that earn Adsense revenue. This is after talking to a 40+ year old guy who is doing this full-time for many years.
His Story
He has never worked for anyone, except as a factory worker. After that he has done property, insurance, and then online internet marketing. He has been able to support his family with this source of income. He actually referred me to some free sites with the relevant information after having been conned many times by paid seminars that promised results. He did warn me that it is very competitive now and it might take 2 years to see any results.
My Story
Frustrated with my job then, I quited and went into this full-time. However, I had been unable to start as I am thinking too much about what type of websites to put up, how to continue adding content that visitors will be interested in and so on. I did not even register for a domain name. I did not want to spend any money until everything is fully planned and worked out. After 2 and half months of going nowhere, and desperate for some income, I got back into working a full-time job.
Fast forward to 13th April 2011. I signed up for the Adsense Guild. Before I signed up, I spoke to a few of my colleagues, who told me it is very hard to make money online. However, I decided to try this out as there is a 60 days money back guarantee, making this a risk-less decision. I will try as hard as I can within 60 days of signing up and if I did not learn anything or see any results, I will ask for the money back.
